Quick Stats

Role: eLearning Developer

Deliverable: Interactive online course with custom animations, drag-and-drops, click-and-reveals, and assessment

Timeline: 1.5 months (development + stakeholder reviews)

Audience: Construction project managers + field-based teams

Challenge

Construction teams relied heavily on contracts to guide decisions, but many employees weren’t confident applying that information day-to-day. The content was complex, text-heavy, and not naturally engaging. Mortenson needed a course that brought the material to life through interaction and practice—not passive reading.

Process

I partnered with the instructional designer to bring the static storyboard content into a dynamic, learner-centered interaction using a multimedia-first development approach.

  • Developed a full Articulate Storyline module with:

    • Custom animations to illustrate complex contract concepts

    • Drag-and-drop activities and click-and-reveal interactions

    • Advanced Storyline triggers, states, and branching

    • A scenario-based assessment for practical application

  • Ensured technical accuracy, instructional flow, and visual consistency across the course

  • Transformed dense contract content into visual, engaging interactions

Solution

The final course transformed heavy contract content into a polished, engaging, multimedia experience.

The instructional designer and stakeholders provided very positive feedback on the clarity, interactivity, and overall quality of the final module.

Although formal metrics weren’t provided, the training strengthened Mortenson’s efforts to:

  • Improve contract comprehension

  • Promote consistent processes across teams

  • Reduce risk and prevent costly project missteps
